Six persons have lost their lives in an
auto crash along Sunkani-Jalingo road in Ardo-Kola Local Government
Area of Taraba State.
The incident involved a commercial vehicle with registration number JAL
953 PX coming from Baissa, the headquarters of Kurmi Local Government
Area, to Jalingo the state capital.
An eyewitness told our reporter that the
accident occurred when the rear tyres of the vehicle burst and the
driver who was on high speed lost control of the vehicle.
The witness who gave his name as Musa said the driver and five
passengers, including a child, died on the spot while five others
sustained serious injuries.
Confirming the incident to newsmen yesterday in Jalingo, the Taraba
State Sector Commander of the FRSC, Mr Godwin Omiko said the incident
occurred due to over-speeding by the driver. “As I speak with you, their
corpses are yet to be claimed by their family members. The driver of
the vehicle from all indications picked the passengers from the road,
not from the main park,” he said.
