Wife of Taraba State Governor, Barr. Anna Darius Ishaku today joined her Benue counterpart, Dr. Mrs. Eunice Ortom to pray for State and National issues declaring that nothing is impossible with God, therefore nothing can be impossible to those who believe in God.
The wife of the Governor stated this during the 9th Benue Women In Prayer, (BEWIP) Convocation at the Chapel of Grace, Benue People’s House, Makurdi, and the theme was “Rebuilding the Broken Walls With Praise and Thanksgiving”.
Barr. Ishaku said the process of building broken walls was not an easy one, stressing that no matter how hard you try, people will always want to truncate your efforts as we are all surrounded by enemies both within and outside.
While applauding the laudable vision of the wife of Benue State Governor at forming the prayer group, Her Excellency pointed out that both States share similar challenges of insurgency and silent killings, saying that however, through prayers they will surely overcome.
She further expressed delight over the return of most displaced persons to their homes in various parts of Taraba State, stressing that plans are under way to properly settle and empower them.
Wife of the Benue State Governor, Dr. Eunice Ortom who read from the books of Isaiah 9:16 and Matthew 15:14 revealed the consequences of having wrong leaders, hence the need to pray for them.
Dr. Mrs. Ortom added that when people pray for leaders, they are in actual sense praying for themselves. She had decided to seek the face of God in prayers to know why past administrations had come on board with so much laudable proposals that to a large extent were not executed.
She said God had instructed her to intensify prayers and praises to him, which is the basis for setting up BEWIP in August 2015 where women meet second Saturday of every month to raise their voices to God for the success of the State and Nation at large.
She further encouraged the gathering to continually pray for leaders at all levels to be strong, steadfast and committed to the mandate bestowed on them.
Also speaking, the Benue State Governor, who was represented by his Deputy, Engr. Benson Abounu, acknowledged that the relative peace being experienced in the State so far is a function of combined prayers offered to God by people of the State.
While commending efforts of the Governor’s wife at initiating such a programme, he stated that women were strategic in every aspect of life, as well as enumerated challenges that had been overcome through prayers.
He further pledged the administration’s resolve to support the women in order for them to succeed.
In his goodwill message, the Benue State CAN chairman, Rev. Akpen Leva appreciated the Benue Governor’s wife for the vision, saying in times like this, only prayers could sustain the State.
He also pleaded with the government to provide a Secretariat for CAN in the State as well as assured the administration of his support.
In a charge delivered by Pst. Oloche King Adaji, Christians were urged not to give the devil a chance to destroy them. Taking his text from 2nd Chronicles 20:21-25, the clergy stressed that while the devil is seriously embarking on overtime, the church is busy fighting and tearing each other apart, adding that when the walls of the Church are broken down, the enemy gains full access into it and homes too, thereby wrecking havoc that leads to no good but regrets in the long run.
The Governor’s wife was accompanied by wives of the State Executives.
