A Group known as the Youth Initiative For Advocacy Growth and Advancement,(YIAGA), is seeking the support of the Taraba State House of Assembly on the National Day of Action ‘set aside to peacefully engage the National Assembly and state assemblies on the Not Too Young To Run Campaign’.
The group made this known in a visit Wednesday, to the Taraba State House of Assembly, where they were received by the Speaker of the House, Abel Peter Diah.
According to the letter presented to the Speaker, and signed by Mu’azu Muhammed Danburram, ‘The activity is designed to demonstrate that the large youth population is in support of the Bill being considered in the National Assembly’.
According to the letter, the rally was not a protest, but a peaceful citizen engagement with the State House of Assembly and that the ‘campaign comprises of youth organizations drawn from different parts of the Country working to promote youth issues in policy making and constitution review process’.
While calling on all to support the Bill through social media promotions, public hearing and submission of memoranda, it added that a copy of the Bill could be downloaded on: www.yiaga.org/nottooyoungtorun.
The Speaker of the House, Abel Peter Diah, in his remarks however, promised that the House would give its support at the right time.Taraba
