Governor, Darius Dickson Ishaku on 17th March, 2016 commissioned the Kunini
Electrification Project in Kunini town of Lau Local Government Area.
In his speech that preceded the commissioning, the Governor
encouraged the people of the area to cultivate the attitude of peaceful
coexistence, reminding them that no society can make any meaningful progress if
the people fail to tolerate each other’s inadequacies, stressing that the
request to construct roads that lead to the town would only be possible if
there is peace and tolerance among all tribes in the area.
His Excellency, maintained that, the reason for the gathering was due to peace
in the area, assuring them that more of such developmental projects will be
coming their way to boost the economic activities.
The Governor said he was overjoyed having fulfilled one of
his campaign promises made to the people of Kunini adding that, he intends to
do more for the community and the entire local government area.
He charged the people of the area to take advantage of the
facility and explained that, electricity is one of the fastest drivers of small
and micro enterprises and challenged the people of the area to make optimum use
of this important amenity.
Darius Ishaku called on the people of the community, the chief of Kunini and Chairman Lau Local Government to guard and protect the facility by engaging the services of vigilante to avoid vandalisation.
While using the forum to call on Jole and Shomo communities in Lau Local Government to sheath their sword and embrace peace, he also informed the people of the serious influx of people into the state and charged them to be security conscious at all times and to also report people of suspicious behavior in their midst so that the peace being enjoyed at the moment would be sustained.
Speaking earlier at the event, the Commissioner of Rural Development, Hon. Alexander Senlo said the contract to connect Kunini town to the National Grid started about 30 years ago by the Federal Government and was abandoned but now completed in less than 10 months of Governor Ishaku’s administration.
Darius Ishaku called on the people of the community, the chief of Kunini and Chairman Lau Local Government to guard and protect the facility by engaging the services of vigilante to avoid vandalisation.

started rescuing the state and beckoned on them to join the train so that the
rescue will touch all facets of the state.
He appreciated the support of the member representing Lau in the Taraba State House of Assembly, Hon. Joseph Albasu Kunini, Lau Local Government Council and called on the people to support the present administration because the Chief rescuer has captured every sphere of Taraba in a book he titled the Taraba Green Book.
During the visit, Governor Darius Ishaku paid homage to Chief of Lau Alhaji Abubakar Umar Danburam lll in his Palace where the Chief pleaded with the Governor to construct the Kunini road, saying the people of the area have faced hardship most especially during the raining season and to also connect Lau town to the National Grid and assured the Governor of his loyalty and support.
Governor Darius Ishaku, the Chief of Lau Umar Danburam lll, Jole and Shomo Elders and other major stakeholders in Lau Local Government went into a closed door meeting with a view to finding a lasting solution to the persistent crisis between the two communities which usually results to the loss of lives and properties, emanating over right of ownership of a particular pond in the area.
High point of the event was the cutting of tape, switching on the transformer and cultural dances from Kunini and Yandang Communities.
