Gov. Ishaku signs Taraba’s N100.8 billion 2016 budget

The Taraba State governor, Darius Ishaku, on Wednesday signed the adjusted 2016 Appropriation Bill of N100.8 billion.

The governor had in December 2015, presented a budget of N68.8 billion to the House of Assembly.
But he told journalists in Jalingo after signing the bill that the figure was increased to include anticipated revenue.

“To avoid uncertainties, we initially decided not to include our anticipated revenue in the budget.
“However, we were advised by the House of Assembly to include the anticipated revenue because budgeting is an estimate of anticipated income.

“If we don’t do that, we may have to later present the anticipated revenue in a supplementary budget,” he said.
The governor disclosed that 530 ghost workers were discovered in the ongoing workers’ verification as part of efforts to block revenue leakages.

He solicited support from the Nigerian Labour Congress, NLC, in identifying the people behind the ghost workers for prosecution.
