The lingering fuel scarcity which is a phenomenon in Nigeria for some months has hit high in Taraba state, compounding the psychological torment of the masses.
Tarabans who spoke to our correspondent in Jalingo, expressed their dissatisfaction over the continuous state of affairs in the petroleum industry.
Umar Bayari, a resident of ATC Jalingo said he now pays one hundred naira to the market,than seventy naira that he was used to, a situation he described as pathetic and unhealthy for the masses. In his comment Didan Babayo, a resident of Lasandi quarters Jalingo blamed the non availability of the product in the state capital to bad administration of the downstream sector in the country and opined that is a sad episode in the administration of the sector.
Adamu Usman a keke Napep rider blamed increased in transportation to the increase of petrol which now sold between one thousand to one thousand five hundred naira for a gallon in the state capital.
All traveling routes to local governments and other state is also affected as passengers now pay between two thousand naira to Takum against one thousand two hundred naira, Jalingo to Karim Lamido now one thousand two hundred naira against one thousand naira the same applies to other routes.
Our correspondent following the development further stated that when president Mohammadu Buhari double as the Minister of petroleum most Nigerians hip a sigh of relief in view of the rot in the sector which the President would salvage, but recent developments on the removal of subsidies and hitherto the non availability of the product is a source of concern to the masses.
